Former Governor of Alaska Bill Sheffield served in the U.S Army Air Corps from 1946 to 1949. Since 1953, Sheffield has lived in Alaska. According to the National Governor's Association, he was elected governor of Alaska and served from 1982 to 1986.
Governor Dunleavy has ordered that Alaska and the United States flags fly at half-staff sunrise to sunset from Monday, November 21st through Tuesday, November 22nd in honor of former Governor Bill Sheffield.
